Have you ever talked to a statue? I myself haven’t but my father has. It happened several years ago when I was a child.
After visiting
his friend’s house, my father wasn’t going to go home directly. He tried to go around
by exploring new streets. It was his hobby that seemed to pass on to me. It
usually took 30 to 40 minutes to make him satisfied from doing the hobby.
The day is
getting dark. My father decided to go home. He chose a way that he thought it
was the fastest. Unfortunately, the way he chose led him lost instead.
He started to
worry when he realized he was in a sparsely populated area. And he saw no one
passing by. All around him were only fields. Moreover, it was already dark. All
he could do was continuing riding his motorbike following the road.
Not long
afterward he saw a man carrying a hoe at the T-junction. He approached him and
asked, “Excuse me, sir. I think I get lost. Would you mind telling me how to
get the highway?”
The man didn’t
answer. My father repeated his question but the man just kept silent and even
didn’t move. He only realized he was talking to the statue after asking for the
third time. What an unlucky day he had!
Sometimes it’s hard to stay focus when we are worried and in a hurry. So we can’t differentiate between a man and a statue.
